John C. Howard was a commercial artist, before he moved toward photography and Spectarama, he made his mark in the advertisting industry, primarily as an illustrator specializing in foods and beverages.
Based on this roster he kept, we can also see corporate marketing, electronics, and other products.
Often, but not always, he was able to include his "Red Dot" style signature into these works, although most appear to be unsigned, and some of these works also seem to be collaborations with other artwork, likely from different artists, based on their different style, with elements of John's images included, and as is common with magazine advertisments of the time, text copy of the advert.
While we have some proof sheets that are in the artists private archive, they are only a small percentage of the total body of work that we can have high certainty that he produced himself.
Of course his signature on a piece is a confirmation, but without concrete evidence, we may never know for certian his entire body of work.
We will attempt to collect and display the definite, highly likely, and highly possible examples of his contributions that we can discover.
We may include references to works that he did not actually illustrate, but that, due to their style, similarity, timeframe, he at the very least inspired.
Unless we see another artists signature or claim to a piece of work, we are comfortable including these in this collection.
We may also include links to these brands directly and may earn comissions on purchases facilitated thru these links. We appreciate your support!
